Welcome to our Summer Newsletter!

Clear Water Revival have been very busy during the first half of 2009, with a total of 12 partner companies now working to design and build our pools across the UK, we have 8 new projects underway, and an array of activity to build awareness for Natural Swimming Pools (NSP) and our technology.

What makes CWR different

  • Scientifically proven bio-filtration system to guarantee clean and clear water
  • 5 Pool types (see below) to give flexibility
  • 20:80 ratio regeneration zone vs. 50:50 in swimming ponds

  • Working with a partner community supported by a team of scientists, ecological engineers, sustainability consultants, landscape designers and architects (great expertise)
  • CWR pools can be heated up to 28 degrees (unlike many swimming ponds)

5 Pool Types

2009 has seen the launch of Clear Water Revival's 5 pool types to work with any project or pool requirement, ranging from a classic looking swimming pool with no direct plant interaction to a freeform planted pool for the more wild swimming experience.

Pool Type 1: Classic

July Pool Type 3 Classic Planted

The Classic pool is built for practicality, contemporary and formal styles, pristine conditions as well as indoor environments.

Pool Type 2: Freeform

Freeform Romance Pool 2

This type of pool system gives us the convenience and functionality of the type 1 system with the romantic design of your traditional natural swimming pool (type 5).

Pool Type 3: Classic Planted

July Pool Type 5 Freeform Planted

Clean architectural designs incorporating nature but with a separate planted filter. This type of pool provides a more practical solution suiting sophisticated smaller-scale design. Also providing an excellent option for pool conversions.

Pool Type 4: Compact Planted

July Pool Type 2 Freeform

The compact planted pool is built using modular construction techniques. Great for restricted garden space and budgets. This would make the perfect plunge pool.

Pool Type 5: Freeform Planted

July Pool Type 1 Classic

This is your familiar pool/pond hybrid, generally characterised by large planted areas. Its owners will enjoy a more 'wild' swimming experience!

Case Study: Pool Conversion

Freeform Planted Type 5: Chew Magna

Clear Water Revival's pool system can be retrospectively fitted to offer an eco friendly alternative to costly traditional chlorine pools, or indeed redundant water spaces.

  • Do you want to pursue a more green and organic lifestyle?
  • Would you like to enhance your outdoor living space?
  • Do you want to encourage more wildlife to your garden?

Project Aim:

To convert an existing chemical pool into a Type 5, Freeform Planted Natural Swimming Pool.

The Process:

It was necessary to ensure the final pool fitted in with the surrounding landscape and countryside. Softer edges were created using a beached effect and flowering aquatic plants were placed sympathetically around these edges which instantly enhanced the natural beauty of the environment.

Construction Issues & Design:

  • In the years since the chlorine pool had been installed, ground movement had subsided much of the existing panel system. This meant much of the existing overall structure was unusable.
  • In collaboration with the owners, it was decided to rebuild the entire pool. Although the original depth was kept; the planted area at the back end increased the length of the pool from 7 to 10 metres.
  • A shallow regeneration zone and black lining helped to increase the overall pool temperature and extend the swimming season by several weeks.
  • Finally, the usability of the pool was greatly increased. Given the restructuring of the paving around the new pool and the natural form of the overhanging deck at one end, the client felt that CWR and their installation partner had created a lush and very natural swimming experience which also adds value to their property.

Testimonial

"We are delighted at the transformation of our old and rather dilapidated swimming pool into a stunning pond that blends so well with the garden. Instead of a chemical laced, plastic covered pool with all the bother of pH levels and chlorine balance we have a natural place to swim in soft water surrounded by nature. It looks fantastic all year round. We were impressed with the care and attention that Clear Water Revival demonstrated from the early design through construction to ongoing checkups."
