Natural Swimming Pool Questions
Heating
All pool types can be heated up to 28 degrees. Any system can be used.
Type 4 &5 pools generally require less heating due to their colour (darker linings), and the shallower water zones encourage passive solar gain.
Note: Some swimming pond systems cannot be heated. This DOES NOT apply to our technology and systems.
Hygiene
A clean aerobic environment is maintained in all corners of a Clear Water Revival pool.
Pathogens which can cause illness are controlled by the filter’s ‘beneficial’ bacteria - a permanent means of protection. In contrast the risk of infection in a traditional, chemically controlled pool is vulnerable to any failure to maintain the dosage of disinfectant. Avoiding the use of chlorine also reduces t he risk of irritation of the eyes and or skin.
Design Restrictions
Within our 5 systems, any design is possible.
General restrictions include location in relation to trees and sunlight.
Cost implications
New build costs are in line with conventional bespoke pools.
Conversion costs are kept down if the original pool is a solid concrete structure.
Ongoing maintenance costs are considerably less compared to a conventional pool without the need for chlorine.
No major water exchange is required.
Energy costs are about a quarter of a traditional pool because the pumps utilized are a lot smaller.
Algae
This could mean one of three things - a) suspended algae turning the water green, b) filamentous algae (slimy string like blanket weed), or c) unicellular algae on surfaces (brown or green) as part of the ‘biofilm’ that forms on surfaces within a natural swimming pool.
a) Our water is always clear unless the pump fails, which rarely happens;
b) Filamentous algae never appears in a healthy, well designed adequately maintained natural swimming pool
c) In type 3, 4 and 5 pools some brown algae may slowly develop within the biofilm (over several weeks and if there is zero maintenance) but this can be prevented with the use of an automatic cleaning robot and pool cover. Where an automatic robot is not being used a clean / level surface will have to be brushed off from time to time.
General Maintenance
In Pool types 4&5 pools very little maintenance is required - although it is recommended that once a month the floor of the pool is hoovered free of sediments and the shallows are cleaned twice a year. The level of maintenance in Pool types 1- 3 depends upon the use of automatic cleaners and pool covers.
Pond / Lake
There is no cost saving in having an existing pond in situ, but it is possible to convert.
Stream Diversion
This is not an option for our pools, which are ‘closed’ systems. The use of a steam would make it an ‘open’ system.
