Chlorine-Free Outdoor Pool for Heritage Setting
Nestled within the landscaped grounds of a Grade II listed property, this project was designed to blend seamlessly with its surroundings in Devon. The clients wanted a pool that looked understated and natural, requiring minimal upkeep.
To achieve this, we opted for a dark slate-effect porcelain tile for a finish that gives the water a rich, reflective tone while ensuring the surface remains easy to clean. The result is a pool that feels at home in its historic setting but performs to modern standards for a chemical-free outdoor swimming experience.
Constructing A Pool For Listed Properties
Built using reinforced concrete for long-term structural stability, the pool integrates a discreet automatic safety cover concealed within a below-ground enclosure. This system provides superior debris protection, reduces heat loss, and preserves the look of the pool edge, which was critical for ensuring the pool looked cohesive with the historic property.
Heating is supplied by a low-noise air source heat pump for efficient year-round comfort. Our filtration system, housed neatly in a green-roofed timber plant room, keeps the water naturally pure and chemical-free.
To enhance the evening ambience, we installed an EVA Optic underwater lighting scheme that produces a gentle, even glow across the pool’s surface. All fittings, including inlets and rails, are crafted from 316L marine-grade stainless steel, ensuring exceptional strength and corrosion resistance.
Client Feedback
The homeowners were thrilled with how subtly the pool integrates into the landscape and fit with their requirements of maintaining the look of their property, as well as the ease of maintenance.
