Public natural swimming pools are ideal for community open spaces such as hotels and can enhance and provide a central feature to a natural spa, lido, hotel or retreat. So, we’ve compiled a list of CWR’s favourite public pool projects!

Tregulland Cottage and Barn – Bodmin, Cornwall.

Nestled in a verdant valley in deepest Cornwall, Tregulland is a luxury self-catering rental complex. The complex is specifically designed for large group holidays of up to 24 people. A hidden gem, a stone’s throw from Cornwall’s best beaches and finest fishing villages, it provides secluded tranquillity from the summer holiday hordes.

The Pool Design

The Clear Water Revival freshwater swimming pool complex rests inside its own timber-framed building, consisting of a 11m x 5m indoor pool and attendant shallow children’s pool. Finished with chic, slate-lined walls, with atmospheric underwater lights and backlit planting, the pool is a tranquil haven perfectly in keeping with Tregulland’s luxury aesthetic.

The pool water is sourced and filled from the Cornish property’s purpose dug borehole which is fed through CWR’s water top up pre-filtration system. This enables the system to remove high volumes of organic phosphorus before entering the ClearSpring TSF.

Thyme England Country House Hotel – Lechlade on Thames, Gloucestershire.

Part boutique hotel, part country house with a cookery school, organic gardens and a 150-acre farm thrown in, Thyme is a country retreat offering city folk a fabulous taste of English country life, lessons in sustainable living and farming and a luxury stay in a beautiful village containing buildings as old as the 17th century. The CWR pool sits within one of its walled gardens. While the water is treated naturally, the swimming pool is also filled from the estate spring, providing a completely natural and rejuvenating mineral water swimming experience.

The Pool Design

This outdoor pool is built from natural black slate and filled with the estate’s own spring water. The spring water, drawn from an underground river 50 meters below the ground filtered through the Cotswold limestone and through a biodynamic filter. This means that there is no need for any chemicals to be added.

Meadow Spa Pool – Thyme

Villa Epicurea – Sesimbra, Portugal.

Check out one of our most recent natural swimming pool projects at the Villa Epicurea, Sesimbra, Portugal. Inspired by Epicurus “garden” philosophy, the Villa Epicurea is a natural and eco-friendly retreat in Serra de Arrabida, designed bearing wellbeing in mind. Like the Epicurean garden, apart from the city, this private eco-friendly lodge with breathtaking ocean views celebrates daily pleasure as the principle for a happy and healthy way of living.

The Pool Design

The swimming pool itself uses our natural chemical free CWR filtration system in the existing infinity-edge swimming pool, used to produce natural and crystal-clear mineral water in keeping with their eco-friendly resort which overlooks the picturesque green landscape and sea. The pool itself is filled from a deep briney borehole, so a powerful Reverse Osmosis machine was installed to strip out the salts and create pure water. As pure water is corrosive, this water is then remineralised with a unique formulation, suitable for natural swimming pools.
