Swimming pools like to eat energy!  They can put an enormous demand on energy bills and most conventional pool heaters are very inefficient. The costs of running a pool can be greatly reduced by proper design, premium insulation, choosing an efficient heating method and choosing the right pool cover.

An air source heat pumps absorbs heat from the air and transfers it to your pool water, for each kW of energy consumed by your heat pump, up to 6kW of heat will be transferred to your pool, making a heat pump up to 80% cheaper to run and kinder to the environment.

Ground source heat pumps use heat energy from the ground, they do this either through horizontal ground loops laid in trenches around 100m long and 1m deep, or if space is restricted for this method, vertical closed loop systems can be installed in boreholes which are drilled to average depths of 100m. These loops of pipe circulate a water and anti-freeze solution, collecting energy from the ground and passing it to a compressor which raises the temperature.
